Al-Marsad Newspaper: The media person concerned with consumer awareness and product quality, Abdulaziz Al-Khudairi, sent a letter to the Food and Drug Authority to close a loophole exploited by fraudsters to cheat in honey.
He said, via a video posted on his Twitter account: “There is a loophole that I hope the Food and Drug Administration will close. The importer of honey in huge quantities comes in a jar, is subject to the authority’s disclosure, and conforms to the specifications.”
He added: “The problem is that some laboratories come to take these quantities and put them in small packages and put on them the name and contents they want, and focus on the fact that it is local honey and not imported.”
He explained that in order to avoid fraud in imported honey, the Food and Drug Administration should not allow the importer to use only small, sealed packages.
