A prohibited rave party brings together 1,500 people in the Yonne

A prohibited dance party, commencing Friday night, still drew roughly 1,500 attendees on Saturday at an industrial location in Saint-Florentin, Yonne, according to the departmental capital’s administration.

“A substantial gendarmerie force is deployed to secure the surrounding area and roadways. A security zone is established, and alcohol and drug screenings are in progress,” an official statement declared. Aerial support via helicopter and local traffic rerouting near the event are also part of the operation.

An inquiry underway

“By order, the prefect banned this unauthorized musical gathering, a decision that is firmly upheld,” the administration added, emphasizing the need for the event’s conclusion and the on-site health monitoring coordinated with the regional health authority and emergency responders. Firefighters manage an established medical station providing this oversight, aided by thirty Red Cross volunteers, the statement noted.

Around 500 vehicles remained parked Saturday near the industrial area, where New Year’s Eve celebrants had assembled Friday evening after meeting in Migennes, less than twenty kilometers away. The Auxerre public prosecutor initiated an investigation into the “illegal organization of a musical gathering,” the administration concluded.
