A retiree with disability benefits, a police chief? Michał Domaradzki responds to the allegations

Today, “Rzeczpospolita” informed that Michał Domaradzki, who, according to unofficial reports, is being prepared to take over the position of police chief, has so far been retired (for eight years) and still receives disability allowance. According to the daily, he was supposed to receive a pension during this time. And in February this year The medical commission of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Administration ruled that Domaradzki was now healthy.

Domaradzki: the rulings were of a temporary nature

In 2016, when Domaradzki left the capital police, of which he was the commander, he additionally received a disability pension acquired in connection with his service. This information may raise questions about the composition of the commission that decided on his health condition, as well as doubts about how many times his disability group was extended.

“Rzeczpospolita” tried to contact Domaradzki about this matter, but to no avail. The Ministry of Interior and Administration, in turn, refused to respond to these allegations, citing “detailed legally protected data.”

Onet managed to talk to Domaradzki today. We asked him to comment on the above-mentioned allegations.

— It is not true that I was diagnosed with permanent damage to my health. Medical boards, in various compositions, imposed temporary health restrictions on my ability to perform service. I emphasize that the above rulings were of a temporary nature – said Michał Domaradzki in an interview with Onet.

Will he be the police chief?

The former commander of the capital’s police is tipped to be the head of this entire formation. For now, the duties of the Chief Police Commander are performed by Insp. Marek Boroń. However, unofficially it is said that this is about to change. As Marcin Kierwiński, the head of the Ministry of Interior and Administration, which supervises the police, recently announced, decisions on this matter are to be made by March 22 this year.

Unofficially, it is said that Domaradzki was not appointed to this position immediately after the change of government, because he is facing charges brought over a year ago by the Szczecin prosecutor’s office regarding the disclosure of information from the proceedings. This concerns the case of a city bus accident in Warsaw, the driver of which was suspected of driving under the influence of drugs, although this was ultimately not confirmed.

During the information chaos, and at the end of the presidential campaign, Domaradzki, as head of the Security Bureau of the capital city Warsaw, which he is also currently, he allegedly contacted his friend, prosecutor Ewa Wrzosek, on this matter. As we wrote in Onet, the proceedings in this matter have been at a standstill for over a year, even though the case of another prosecutor has already been discontinued.
