In the United States, a teenager with leukemia can continue her education and even keep in touch with her classmates thanks to a robot that she controls remotely.

Like every morning, Kate Kimel’s little robot arrives at college. His comrades set up his telescopic handle and the screen in the front row. This is how Kate will follow the lessons remotely, but very present in the class. “At first, I was afraid that I would be looked at as a Transformers or something like that, but when I saw that the system was very simple and allowed me to move, I was reassured”says Kate.

The county convinced by this success

The 14-year-old girl has leukemia. Since the start of the school year, she has been taking lessons in her living room. Kate also has a presence with her friends. “I know she can’t come to school, so it’s important for me to make sure she comes with us in all our activities”, says Lilly Dameron, friend of Kate Kimel. Kate’s success has convinced the county authorities who want to equip all colleges with the device at the start of the next school year.
