Over the weekend, snow and rain will affect only some regions; more precipitation will be in Selia and Latgale. At night the air temperature will drop to 0…-5 degrees, during the day on Saturday it will not be higher than +3…+9 degrees. On Sunday it will become a little warmer, and in Latgale the air temperature will rise to +13 degrees.
According to the Global Forecast System forecasts, a cyclone will arrive in Latvia from the southeast on Monday. Heavy rains are expected, snow and blizzards are expected in the central and western regions of the country, and snow cover will form in places.
On Tuesday morning, 2-7 cm of snow will fall across almost the entire country, with up to 10 cm in some places.
On the coast, north winds will increase to 20 meters per second. The air temperature on Monday will be 0…+6 degrees, on Tuesday – from -1 to +4 degrees.
Forecasts regarding the strength and direction of the cyclone may still change, and it may only affect eastern Latvia.
In the middle of next week, a new cyclone will approach Latvia from the south.
According to the Global Forecast System, the lowest temperature next week will be -5 degrees on Wednesday night in Kurzeme, and by the end of the week in some regions of the country the temperature may rise to +17 degrees.
