Dr. Osama Abdel Azim, Professor of Jurisprudence at the Faculty of Boys’ Studies in Cairo, Al-Azhar University, passed away after a struggle with illness, and thousands attended his funeral in a majestic scene.

Hundreds gathered at the Eid Musalla in Al-Tunisi district in Cairo to perform the funeral prayer for Dr. Osama Abdel-Azim, at a time when social media was buzzing with messages of condolence for his death.

Masrawy publishes the most important information about Dr. Osama Abdel Azim:

1- Name: Dr. Osama Mohamed Abdel Azim Hamza.

2- He was born on January 25, 1948 in the Khalifa neighborhood in Cairo.

Qualifications

3- Graduated from the Higher Department of Islamic and Arabic Studies at the Faculty of Sharia and Law in Cairo, Al-Azhar University in 1969.

4- He obtained a master’s degree in the principles of jurisprudence from the Department of Fundamentals of Jurisprudence, Faculty of Sharia and Law in Cairo in 1974, and the subject of the supplementary research was “the authenticity of the words of the companion.”

5- He received a Bachelor of Engineering from the Mechanical Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering, Al-Azhar University, Cairo, in 1976.

6- He obtained his doctorate in the principles of jurisprudence from the Department of Fundamentals of Jurisprudence, Faculty of Sharia and Law, Cairo, Al-Azhar University, with first honors in 1983.

career

7- He was appointed as a teacher of the principles of jurisprudence at the Faculty of Islamic and Arabic Studies for Boys in Cairo on 2/9/1986.

8- Obtained the rank of assistant professor in the principles of jurisprudence on 2/9/1992.

9 – Received a professorship in the principles of jurisprudence on 5/6/1999.

10- Headed the Islamic Sharia Department at the College of Islamic and Arabic Studies for Boys in Cairo from 9/7/1999 to 7/21/2008.

11- He was chosen as a member of the permanent scientific committee for the promotion of professors and assistant professors, specializing in the principles of jurisprudence, Al-Azhar University.

12- He became a full-time professor since 1/8/2008.

Scientific experiences and activities

13- He was seconded to teach at the College of Sharia and Islamic Studies at Kuwait University in 1984 and 1985, and is one of its founders.

14- Discussed and supervised many master’s and doctoral theses.

15- Participated in many conferences inside and outside Egypt.

16- He gave many seminars and lectures in various universities in Egypt and abroad.

His writings

He has authored many fundamentalist books and scientific investigations, including:

1- The way to clear the science of assets from the intruder.

2- Preliminaries of transcription.

3- He studied the local purified origins of jurisprudence in issues of the total, the clear, the abrogation, the Sunnah, and the consensus.

4- Quranic stories and its impact on deducing rulings.

5- Encyclopedia of reasons for the total.

6- The authenticity of the words of the Companion.

7- Al-Ha’ib’s Introduction to Facilitating and Editing the Mukhtasar Ibn Al-Hajeb.

8- Towards a new approach in graduating branches on assets.

9- Memorandum of exchanges in the jurisprudence of sales.

10- Editing of what is in the approach to the principles of what is movable and reasonable, study and investigation.

11- Fundamental texts from Sharh al-Isnawi on Minhaj al-Baydawi on issues of al-Majmu’, al-Mabīn, naskh, Sunnah, and consensus.

12- Eyes of assets.

13- He studied the local purified origins of jurisprudence in analogy, the different evidence in it, ijtihad, contradiction, and weighting.

14 – Fundamental texts from Sharh Al-Isnawi on Minhaj Al-Baidawi in matters of analogy, differing evidence, ijtihad, contradiction, and weighting.

15- An innovative fundamentalist research on the conditions of ijtihad.

Lawyer Montaser al-Zayat said about him last September, when he was suffering from a health crisis, that “Dr. Osama Abdel Azim established the Al-Azhar youth family at Al-Azhar University and was one of the first generation of awakening, and since that time he has been busy with science, jurisprudence and hadith.”

He added that “his mosque in Imam al-Shafi’i was a qiblah for worshipers, especially in the month of Ramadan, where he spends the night reciting the Qur’an, and his mosque was a beacon of knowledge, he was not known for exaggeration or lowliness, and he did not knock on the doors of the sultans and did not dictate the opponents, he was preoccupied with science in his specialization.”
