A man has died after falling from an escalator during the Steelers-Jets football game at Acrisure Stadium on Sunday, the Pittsburgh Department of Public Safety said.
Stadium officials responded to a call around 4:45 p.m. regarding the incident, shortly after the Steelers lost.
The man was treated at the scene by paramedics. He was in critical condition and was later transported to a nearby hospital. He succumbed to his injuries.
An investigation into the incident has been opened.
“We are aware of an unfortunate incident that occurred inside Acrisure today,” Steelers spokesman Burt Lauten said in a statement to USA TODAY Sports.
“We are working with local authorities and assisting their investigation into this matter. We send our thoughts and prayers to the victim’s family.”
