A statement by the Actors Syndicate regarding the health condition of Pierre Chamoun before his death… and a warning

The Board of Directors of the Syndicate of Actors in Lebanon issued a clarification statement in response to what was circulated about the Syndicate’s failure to follow up on the health of the artist, Pierre Chamoun, before his death.

And the statement stated: “Once again, in the name of the artistic body in Lebanon, the Actors Syndicate extends from the family of dear colleague Pierre Chamoun in particular, and from the artistic family in general, its deepest condolences, hoping that God bless the deceased with his mercy.

It is important for us to explain to the public opinion and to those who are not at all aware of what the union is doing towards its colleagues, and specifically for some who have nothing to do with technical unions, the following:

The Syndicate of Theater, Film, Radio and Television Actors in Lebanon was, and still is, within its capacity, the auxiliary support for its affiliates and non-members, and we do not announce this to the public, as this is a private matter that preserves complete confidentiality for all colleagues.

What the union has done and still is, is clear to all members of the general assembly, and there is no need to bid.

In its statement, the Council continued: “The Lebanese Ministry of Health, through its Director of Medical Care, Dr. Joseph Al-Helou, was and still extends a helping hand when asked to help any colleague who is exposed to an emergency health condition. A large number of colleagues were and still, upon request, rush to help any A colleague who is exposed to a health problem, as well as the union’s friends from producers and fans. The Unified Mutual Fund for Artists continues, within its capacity, to stand by its members in emergency situations.”

The statement pointed out that “the poor health condition of our dear colleague Pierre Chamoun, the board of directors was not aware of it, and no one contacted us in this regard, and if this had happened, as we stood by many colleagues and silently and without any media propaganda, we would have stood Together with our colleague Pierre, we have all our capabilities.”

The Council concluded its statement: “We thank all colleagues who denounced the narrative of inaccuracies by those who are not aware of the subtleties of matters and the active role of the Syndicate. The technical unions are under penalty of legal prosecution.

It is said that Joumana Chamoun spoke about the details of the late actor’s health condition before his death, and posted through her account on “Facebook”, blaming the state’s flagrant failure against the Lebanese artist, entitled “To… my country.”

Chamoun had explained that the artist, Chamoun, had been suffering from stomach pain for more than a week, had endured the pain and refused his wife’s request to go to the hospital, saying to her: “Do you want to try me? Where do I get the 40 or 50 million pounds from where I can go to the hospital?”

She explained that the deceased suffered a fatal pain while he was suffering from heart attacks without knowing, he was admitted to the hospital and “what happened”… he died.

Joumana concluded her message: “Whoever was the title of the laugh died of starvation because the artist in his homeland honors him after he dies, but the demons of this country do not know that whoever laughs the world cries in reality in poverty and hunger.”
