“This second place is deserved. The market could even have finished first. What makes this market special are the products. People are looking for local, and quality. But we are not Saint -Tropez either, you have to be careful not to bludgeon the clientele. And it’s true that we feel good here, people stroll, but they buy. It’s pleasant.”

We would have liked Garéoult to win, especially when we know that he is sometimes in competition with big cities, which have the advantage of size. “This contest was very important to us. We didn’t stop voting! We even put up a poster to encourage customers to do so, and we explained how to vote online. I would have liked so much wanted it to be first: it’s a pure Provençal market, very beautiful, charming. And moreover, when people discover it, they say so: it’s a pleasure to browse it. This competition was so a welcome spotlight to attract people, and it works: you see more people. It’s summer, of course, but there is an effect linked to the results, that’s for sure.”

“We are here on vacation, not exactly because the village got this second place, since we did not know it (smiles)! It was an opportunity in our rental search. But we heard about the competition, and it’s true that it’s a pretty market, in the center of the village, very pleasant. This market, arranged in this way, allows you to see the charm of Garéoult. We were able to visit, some time ago, the market of Sanary , also awarded in a previous edition of the competition (winner in 2018, Editor’s note), and we prefer here: in Sanary, there are so many people that you can’t see anything.”
