A Sunday afternoon fire at the Damri bus pool on Jalan Kebon Kawung in Bandung destroyed 10

A Sunday afternoon fire at the Damri bus pool on Jalan Kebon Kawung in Bandung destroyed 10 vehicles and spread to 13 homes in the adjacent residential area.

The blaze began at approximately 16.27 WIB, according to reports from ANTARA News, prompting a response from the Bandung City Fire and Rescue Department (Diskarmatan).

The fire broke out on Sunday, November 8, 2026, in the Cicendo sub-district, near Stasiun Bandung. Bandung Fire and Rescue Department Head Soni confirmed that the burning vehicles were Trans Metro Pasundan buses parked in rows at the pool on Jalan Kebon Kawung, Gang Rais, in Kelurahan Pasirkaliki. By around 19.00 WIB, firefighters had moved into cooling operations at the scene.

Timeline and Spread of the Blaze

Wadanton 2 Diskarmatan Kota Bandung Gunawan Suryadi stated that officers arrived at the scene seven minutes after receiving the report at 16.27 WIB. Gunawan noted that the initial fire is suspected to have started from a bus parked at the far end on the left side. Driven by strong winds and fueled by the semi-permanent structures of the nearby residential neighborhood, the flames quickly jumped from the pool into the surrounding community.

“Dan karena angin kencang dan titik api juga semakin melebar, lalu ada perembetan ke rumah warga dan di rumah warga juga cepat sekali terbakarnya karena emang jenis rumahnya semi permanen, jadi cepat sekali terbakarnya,” ujar Gunawan.

Soni noted that as thick black smoke billowed into the sky, personnel from the West UPT and the command headquarters battled the flames while deploying water-sealing and cooling techniques to protect adjacent buses on the right and a pile of used tires at the facility.

Budi (43), a local resident and online motorcycle taxi driver whose home was destroyed, recounted that he ran to warn neighbors and pulled a relative from a house as the fire advanced, adding that his family and all residents ultimately survived despite losing everything except the clothes on their backs within less than two hours. The Pemerintah Kota Bandung deployed 10 fire trucks to combat the blaze.

Fire Causes No Deaths but Leaves One Resident Treated

Authorities confirmed that no fatalities resulted from the incident, though one resident received medical treatment for shortness of breath. Kapolsek Cicendo Ajun Komisaris Darno and local personnel deployed to the location to assist with evacuations.

While officials have established that the fire originated from a bus before spreading to the housing area, Budi expressed hope that Damri and related parties would take responsibility for the disaster since victims lost their homes, while Kapolsek Cicendo Ajun Komisaris Darno stated that the exact trigger and material financial losses remain under active investigation.
