A third of French people in hygienic precariousness, according to an Ifop survey

Times are tough in this time of inflation. An Ifop poll was released on Tuesday March 21, 2023 concerning precariousness. The opinion polling company revealed, for the association Dons solidaires, that a third of French people do without hygiene products, according to AFP.

Looking at the figures, we can see that 7% of respondents indicate that they brush their teeth without toothpaste, 8% wash without soap or shower gel and 17% of parents do not change their child’s diapers as frequently as they want. .

A phenomenon leading “to isolation and shatters self-esteem”

In a press release, the association Dons solidaires, which collects unsold goods from companies to donate them to the charitable sector, said that “Hygiene precariousness degrades self-esteem and leads to isolation. It continues to progress and is no longer the prerogative of beneficiaries of associations fighting against poverty”. But the figures are even more alarming for poor people. According to Ifop, 73% say they deprive themselves of hygiene products in general, 34% shampoo and 31% menstrual protection.

In 2021, these proportions were half as high.
