Like a fairytale princess confined to her tower, a TikTok user has become an online sensation. Her video depicts her unusual predicament: being “marooned” in her small dwelling after discovering the building’s staircase had vanished during unannounced repairs.
“When your landlord removes the stairs without warning, and you’re stuck for hours,” Olivia Crump, known on the platform as foodbattle2008, declared in the video posted Tuesday. This short film has already amassed over 1.3 million views.
As reported by Crump to the Daily Dot, she was essentially a prisoner in her home for approximately four hours—the duration of the unannounced repairs. “Descending without using a ladder or risking a perilous climb down the side was impossible,” she explained.
While she could pursue legal action due to the inherent dangers in an emergency (fire, earthquake, etc.), she’s opted against it, heeding the advice of many online commentators.
