A train with cracks in the rails of the Xinma Station of the Yilan Taiwan Railway passes at a speed of 30 kilometers per hour

The Taiwan Railway Administration pointed out tonight that there were about 3 mm of cracks in the rails of Yilan-Xinma Station, and they were first reinforced with fishtail sheets. The slow-speed trains are safe and secure, and a late-night blockade route has been scheduled to replace the rails.

Taiwan Railway said that tonight, some people called the 1933 emergency call number to inform that “there is a suspected crack in the rail near the No. 19 pole of Xinma Station”. The crack is about 3 millimeters (mm), and it is judged that there is no immediate danger, and it will be dealt with immediately according to standard operating procedures.

Because the Xinma Station was the place where the Puyuma train derailed in October 2018, the problems with the rails caused more concern from the outside world.

Taiwan Railway pointed out that at present, the fishtail sheet is used for reinforcement treatment, and the trains are safe to pass.

Taiwan Railway said that the current train passing through Xinma Station is slowing at 30 kilometers per hour, which is estimated to affect the train’s running for about a few minutes, and the details are still to be calculated.
