A trans man from the USA gave birth to twins. The road to family happiness was not easy.

A trans man from the USA gave birth to twins after six rounds of artificial insemination. Aaden Darr from Charleston, West Virginia, was overjoyed at the birth of his daughters Quinn and Carter in an interview with “Daily Mail”. “I had to fight a lot but I would do it again,” the 22-year-old barista told the British newspaper.

Darr came out as a trans man at the age of 16. He underwent testosterone therapy for two years, but the desire to give birth to a child kept growing. So he stopped the hormonal treatment and went to a family planning center.

The path to family happiness was not to be easy: Doctors determined that polycystic ovaries were at the root of Darr’s troubles. This condition is characterized by cysts in the ovaries and can make pregnancy difficult due to menstrual irregularities.

Darr: “My children have a great life”

In the clinic, however, he experienced a lot of support. After five months of intrauterine insemination (IUI) with donor sperm, Aaden became pregnant with twins in August 2020. “After my fifth failed IUI treatment, I was told that if the next one also failed, I couldn’t do another,” said Darr. It was “surreal” that he got pregnant after all.

Although happiness seems perfect with his two daughters, Quinn and Carter, Darr also has to fight against discrimination and prejudice: “The hardest thing about being a trans parent is what other people think of me,” he said.

He shared a video about his journey on TikTok and then received many mean comments. Despite all the criticism, the young father does not give up: “My children have a great life,” says Darr, who is raising the daughters with his 21-year-old partner.
