The Amagá Provincial Attorney’s Office has begun an exhaustive investigation into the recent escape of inmates from the municipal jail in Fredonia, Antioquia.
This incident, which took place following the violent entry of armed individuals under the guise of visitors, has generated concern among local authorities.
Investigations by the Public Ministry have revealed that the escape of the detainees was facilitated by a group of armed people who managed to enter the penitentiary establishment and threatened security personnel.
Although one of the fugitives was recaptured in his escape attempt, and one of the accomplices was also arrested.
For their part, two individuals still remain at large.
The Attorney General’s Office has carried out a special visit to several entities in Fredonia, including the municipal administration, the Personería and the Police Command.
This is with the objective of collecting evidence that allows us to identify those responsible for this serious disciplinary offense.
Local authorities have collaborated jointly in this investigation to fully clarify the facts.
Fredonia Mayor’s Office speaks out on the escape of inmates
The mayor of Fredonia, Aldubar de Jesús Vanegas Marín, has expressed his concern regarding these events.
