a whole neighborhood in mourning since the disappearance of young Lizzie and Tessa, who died in a terrible fire

Saturday morning, the citizens of Bizet woke up with the announcement of a terrible fire on rue Duribreu. Very quickly, the sad news went around the village and the whole entity: two little girls aged 10 and 12, Lizzie and Tessa, did not survive. The fire started around 8:30 a.m.

Alerted by the fumes, neighbors banged on the door of the house. Inside was a family of seven. The parents and three children managed to get out of the house but not the two little girls. Despite attempts to rescue them, the scale of the fire and the smoke would not have allowed the family to go upstairs.

The sudden and unexpected disappearance of the little girls caused the turmoil of many people in Bizet and throughout the entity of Comines. Two days after the events, the residents struggle to find the words to discuss this tragedy. “We only feel sadness,” explains Christian, a close neighbor of the house on rue Henri Duribreu in which Lizzie, Tessa, their parents and the rest of the siblings lived.
