French Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin welcomed Friday the arrest in Casablanca of Reda Abakrim, an international cannabis trafficker from the Paris region.
Reda Abakrim, one of the biggest cannabis traffickers in the Paris region, was arrested at the end of December in Morocco, after narrowly escaping in Dubai from the investigators who had located him there.
“I welcome the arrest in Casablanca of an international drug trafficker. He was one of our priority targets. A fine example of the very good cooperation between France and Morocco ”, the Minister of the Interior wrote in a tweet.

He started young in “go fast”, these cars capable of transporting drugs to France in record time. This will earn it its nickname “Turbo”.
“Priority objective” of Ofast, Reda Abakrim had been on the run for more than 13 years, the date of the assassination in a city of Poissy (Yvelines, Paris region) of Brahim Hajaji, for whom he is suspected, according to a close source folder.
In this case, he was sentenced, in his absence, last June, to 21 years of criminal imprisonment by the Assize Court of Versailles, near Paris.
Of Moroccan nationality, Reda Abakrim was imprisoned, according to Le Parisien, for using a false passport. To be tried in France, Morocco would have to agree to extradite him.
