2023-10-11 09:04:03

ABB announces that it has been chosen by Danish company H2 Energy Esbjerg ApS to provide electrical engineering support for a 1 GW hydrogen production plant in Esbjerg as well as the hydrogen distribution center in Fredericia, Denmark.

The Esbjerg plant will be one of the largest hydrogen developments in Europe and will produce up to 90,000 tonnes of hydrogen per year, the equivalent of around 1.9 million barrels of oil per year.

With this project, ABB will draw on its expertise in the Power-to-X (PtX) sector for the development of green hydrogen, which already includes collaborations in Sweden, Norway and elsewhere in Denmark.

The PtX facility in Esbjerg, scheduled to be commissioned by 2027, will convert renewable electricity from offshore wind energy into green hydrogen to support the decarbonization of heavy industry and road transport.
