The Department of Economic Development – Abu Dhabi and “Valeo” signed an agreement to cooperate on the development and promotion of the automotive industry, and to provide the opportunity for “Valeo” to be present in the field of developing and manufacturing components for self-driving electric cars in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
The partnership aims to promote the development of industrial solutions and cooperation with emerging local electric vehicle companies. Valeo is exploring development and growth opportunities by integrating its cutting-edge technologies and vision of sustainability into new areas such as green cities.
The agreement to design and manufacture components for self-driving electric cars contributes to improving smart and sustainable transportation, developing the transport industry, which is among the priority sectors targeted by Abu Dhabi’s industrial strategy, and supporting its initiatives, including innovative technologies for the fourth industrial revolution, to lead Abu Dhabi’s transformation towards a smart, circular and sustainable economy.
His Excellency Rashid Abdul Karim Al Balushi, Undersecretary of the Department of Economic Development – Abu Dhabi, witnessed the signing of the agreement between Eng.
Eng. Arafat Al Yafei, Executive Director of the Industrial Development Bureau, said: “We look forward to moving forward with the implementation of this agreement with Value, as part of our continuous efforts to achieve the ambitious goals of Abu Dhabi’s industrial strategy. This cooperation to develop the smart car industry and establish a technological center for the manufacture of electric car components in Abu Dhabi is in line with our initiatives to ensure growth and adoption of advanced technologies within the framework of values and standards of sustainability in various aspects of economic and social development.
