As the Upper Franconian police reported at 3:18 p.m. in a first report, at least ten vehicles were involved in an accident between the Gefrees and Münchberg-Süd junctions near Streitau.
According to information from the police at 4 p.m., none of the injured are currently in danger of life. The number of injuries is in the double digits. A car caught fire. The fire has now been extinguished.
As a local police spokesman reported from the scene of the accident at 5 p.m., the A9 towards Hof is still totally blocked between the Gefrees and Münchberg-Süd junctions. Traffic is currently diverted to the Gefrees junction.
Another police spokesman said the lockdown would be prolonged. A long traffic jam has formed. The ADAC asked motorists on the Autobahn between Marktschorgast and Münchberg-Süd to form a lane for rescue and emergency vehicles. Those familiar with the area are asked to drive around the accident site as far as possible. – Further information follows.
