The Munich native “fell asleep peacefully in the hospice,” as the Bild-Zeitung citing Wepper’s wife Susanne Kellermann (49) reported at lunchtime. He had been in this hospice for about a month. In October, Wepper had to cope with the death of his brother Elmar (79), who died of heart failure. Wepper made it public that he had cancer in 2021. In 2022 he contracted Covid-19.
Wepper became internationally known in 1959 through the anti-war film “The bridge”. He had his breakthrough in the role of assistant Harry Klein in the crime series “The Commissioner” and “Derrick”. Many people also knew him from his roles as Kaltenthal Mayor Wolfgang Wöller in the ARD television series “For heaven’s sake” and as psychiatrist Dr. Wendelin Winter in the crime series “Murder in the best company”.
