Actor Victor Reinier leaves ‘Flikken Maastricht’ after complaints about behavior

End of an Era for ‘Flikken Maastricht’

After seventeen years, the beloved Dutch crime drama “Flikken Maastricht” is facing a major change. Lead actor Reinier Zonneveld will not be returning to the series.

“Victor has committed all those seasons with full dedication for the success of the series,” reads a statement from the show’s production company, Hollands Licht. “However, it became clear that the recording of the series for Victor was an increasingly greater task, which also had an impact on the working atmosphere on the set.”

The statement goes on to explain that complaints prompted discussions with cast, crew, and broadcaster AVROTROS, leading to the decision to not bring back Zonneveld’s character. “We do not comment further on the privacy of those involved.”

Zonneveld, for his part, has chosen not to comment publicly on the news, citing his mother’s recent passing as a reason for his preoccupation.

A Long-Running Success

“Flikken Maastricht” has become a staple of Dutch television since its debut in September 2007. The series, set in the charming city of Maastricht, has spanned 19 seasons and garnered a devoted following.

Inspired by the Belgian series “Flikken,” which ran for 10 seasons in Ghent, “Flikken Maastricht” finds its home on VRT 1 in flanders. While Zonneveld’s departure marks a significant shift for the dutch version,its Flemish counterpart continues to broadcast new episodes.
