Divya Unni was a shining star in Malayalam cinema in the nineties. The actress has acted in many films as a heroine and supporting actress. Ustad was a 1999 movie directed by Shaji Kailas. Divya Unni played the role of Mohanlal’s sister in the film starring Mohanlal. The actress is now sharing her experiences with Mohanlal.
Divya Unni said that Ustad was a film where many actors who were lost to Malayalam came together and the location of that film felt like a workshop. In an interview with Mirchi Malayalam, Divya Unni said that while acting with Mohanlal, you don’t have to do anything special and everything else happens when he does.
‘If Laleton says to act with all of us, we should just give up. Working with actors like them is really like going to a workshop. Not only Lalettan, there were many best artists of Malayalam in that movie.
In that movie, there is Chitra Chechioka. Many people like Narendra Prasad sir, NF uncle acted in that movie. When I say Ustad, I remember many such people. Many of them are no longer with us.
A lot of people have said that my chemistry with Laleton was great in the movie Ustad. We really have no part in that chemistry. As soon as the lullaby stands in front of the camera, it all happens naturally. But we need not suffer any more. The experience of working with Laleton was very different,’ said Divya Unni.
Ustad was a movie with a big star cast like Janaraddanan, NF Varghese, Vineeth, Sai Kumar, Ganesh etc. The movie was also a huge success. The chemistry between Divya Unni and Mohanlal was great.
