There is an investigation into suspected crimes committed by MEP Adam Bielan and former Minister of Funds and Regional Policy Grzegorz Puda – RMF FM reporter Krzysztof Zasada learned. The proceedings conducted at the request of the Supreme Audit Office concern irregularities in the National Center for Research and Development.

NIK auditors examined the “Fast Track – Digital Innovations” competition organized by the National Center for Research and Development. In October last year, they presented a report in which they found “numerous irregularities both in the process of preparing and organizing the recruitment of applications for funding in the competition, as well as at the stage of project selection.” It was after this inspection that they prepared applications to the prosecutor’s office regarding MEP Bielany, former minister Puda, and former director of the Center, Jacek Orł. This is about acting to the detriment of the interests of NCBiR, as well as publishing classified materials.

The Regional Prosecutor’s Office in Warsaw initiated an investigation based on the article of the Penal Code regarding the abuse of powers and failure to fulfill duties by public officials. Evidence is currently being collected. No one has been charged so far.

A group of tricksters wanted to draw huge millions of conclusions from the NCBR – based on two very suspicious conclusions in my opinion. The former director of NCBR prevented them from doing so – this is how Adam Bielan commented on the scandal at NCBiR in March 2023. He argued that he had nothing to do with this case. Someone is trying to attack me, but above all they want to attack the people who stopped the flow of money – he said on RMF FM.
Bielan also commented on the allegations that he pushed Karol Kuch to the position of head of NCBR despite the fact that he did not have the necessary qualifications. I had no competence to push anyone to the position of head of NCBR. The acting head of NCBR is appointed by the Minister of Funds and Regional Policy. I’m not one, he replied.
