Ahead of UEFA Euro 2024, adidas today reveals technical performance kits from seven of its largest federations. Belgium, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Scotland, Spain and Wales are thus equipped with new home and away kits, intended to unite the players and their fans.

Each of the jerseys has been designed to inspire a sense of pride and belonging, mixing traditional elements revisited in a modern style. The adidas design team set out to create a product that offered an unexpected and fresh perspective, while remaining respectful and true to their football heritage and including, among other things: an original use of national colors, with new hues more daring, the recoding of traditional motifs used in innovative ways, and the introduction of new symbols in the traditional outfits of the federation, such as the Belgium away kit.

Belgium

The home jersey, which uses the colors of the Belgian flag, is inspired by contemporary Belgian architecture and luxury ready-to-wear. The back of the collar is marked with the date “1895” in reference to the year of creation of the Royal Belgian Football Federation. The famous away kit celebrates the rich culture of Belgian art and design, and more particularly the Belgian designer Hergé and the comic book character for which he is famous: Tintin. Inspired by Tintin’s iconic outfit, a royal nod is found at the back of the collar with a golden crown that shimmers against a bright blue background. The print on both items features a 3D diamond tessellation, including geometric lines, which mimic the royal crest of Belgian football.

Germany

The Germany home jersey uses the traditional black and white color, with a gradient between the collar and the shoulders, which gradually changes from black to red then to bright orange, in reference to the German flag: an original look which allows for the country organizing the tournament to stand out. The away jersey offers a palette of bright colors inspired by the digital metaverse which is aimed at new generations of German fans. The two jerseys are linked by the DFB crest, which refers in particular to the German federal eagle.

Hungary

The main objective of the design of the Hungarian jerseys is to call on all Hungarians to support their team during the biggest championship in Europe. The home jersey features the colors of the national flag as well as the patterns of the crest, placed at heart level. The away jersey uses the same principles, but with a moving Hungarian flag on a white background to give an impression of fluidity. The two jerseys are linked to each other by the slogan on the back of the neck.

Italy

True to the heritage of the Italian jersey, but with a new look for today’s fans and players, Italy’s new home and away kit implements the Tricolore in a striking and stylish way. The home jersey uses Italy’s traditional blue, with three stripes in the colors of its flag on the shoulders, which are also found in the crest. The away jersey is white. We find the flag in red and green bands on the shoulders and sides, as well as in the crest. Both jerseys share the same embossed letter I motif (reinterpreted in a digital style) as well as the reference to the Italian anthem L’ITALIA CHIAMO on the back of the collar.

Scotland

Scotland is a country of passions which the home jersey references through a modernized tartan pattern with geometric shapes on a dark blue background which references the country’s history. The away jersey uses the same themes, taking inspiration from an iconic kit from the 90s, with a dark purple tartan pattern on a light background, for a colorful and original look. The Scottish flag appears on the back of the collar of both jerseys in a reinterpretation which also incorporates the tartan.

Spain

The Spain home jersey offers a classic look. Wavy patterns dot the base of the jersey, which blends the shapes of the country’s national flower – the carnation – and the seas that surround the peninsula. The away jersey takes the same inspirations as the home jersey but with an unusual combination of colors like a lively Spanish beach in the middle of summer.

Wales

The red of the Welsh dragon ignites his team’s home jersey. Thin bands of green, yellow and red, whose shape is inspired by the dragon’s tail, wind down the sides of the jersey. The away jersey is inspired by the famous Welsh supporters’ hat and features retro patterns and the colors of the flag on a pale yellow background. The slogan displayed on the back of the collar of both jerseys, “Team Play, is the Best Play”.

Sam Handy, Vice President of Product and Design at adidas, said : “A national jersey is a symbol around which a nation unites as its team strives to provide its fans with unforgettable moments. A team’s jersey is much more than a way to identify it within the framework of its sport, it symbolizes unity, the passion that unites us to each other and an identity that is never so well celebrated than during an international tournament. We tap into this emotion and energy by taking the fundamental codes of each of our federations and embellishing them with original design elements, in order to offer jerseys that fans of each team can proudly wear throughout the summer, both in the stands and in the streets. »

These performance jerseys, lightweight and equipped with the latest adidas technologies, have been designed in close collaboration with each federation. Each jersey features HEAT.RDY technology, optimized for player comfort, or AEROREADY technology, which allows for evacuation. The jerseys are further equipped with lightweight patches and mesh panels that improve airflow and comfort, helping players focus on the game.

These new kits are just one example of adidas’ involvement in UEFA EUR0 2024 and with the athletes and their fans. As part of a decades-long partnership, adidas also designed FUSSBALLLIEBE, the official match ball of UEFA EURO 2024, which will be the first ball with connected technology to be used in a championship.

adidas kits for UEFA EURO 2024TM will be available on the adidas website and in a selection of physical stores from March 14, 2024.
