ALGIERS – The work of the Summit of African ministers responsible for start-ups, which saw the participation of 34 countries, ended on Wednesday in Algiers with the adoption of the Algiers Declaration for the development of start-ups.

At the close of the work, the participants welcomed the interest shown by the country’s high authorities in young people carrying innovative ideas and projects.

“The adoption of the 2nd Ministerial Declaration of Algiers for the development of start-ups testifies to the success of this Summit,” declared to the press Zakaria Maghni, in charge of this meeting, held on the sidelines of the 2nd edition of the African Start-up Conferenceopened on Tuesday, under the patronage of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune.

“The preliminary draft resolution on the fight against brain drain in the continent, which African countries, led by Algeria, will submit to the African Union (AU), was adopted by all participants at the Summit, who praised Algeria’s leading role in the field of start-ups.

The participants also welcomed “the dynamics of Algeria and the interest shown by the country’s high authorities in young people carrying innovative ideas and projects and in start-ups”, considering that this is “a model to follow for all African countries in the field of start-ups”, according to the same official.

On this occasion, the delegations present said they were “ready to work with Algeria in this area to strengthen inter-African cooperation and enable start-ups and young start-ups to meet the challenges of development in Africa in all areas.” emphasized the speaker.

The meeting, whose work began on Tuesday afternoon, was an opportunity to strengthen African cooperation in the field of start-ups and innovation in Africa to make it a “priority” on the continent, according to the organizers.

Organized by the Ministry of the Knowledge Economy, Start-ups and Micro-enterprises, under the high patronage of the President of the Republic, the African Start-up Conference, which is held from December 5 to 7 at the Center international Abdelatif-Rahal conference, aims to enable African decision-makers to find out about everything that is happening in other countries on the continent in this sector, to exchange experiences and to sign cooperation agreements.
