AEW Faces Investigation from Oklahoma Athletic Commission Over Transgender Match: Find out the Details Here!

AEW was almost fined by an Oklahoma state athletic commission in the United States.

Indeed, a report from January 2024 mentions that the Oklahoma Athletic Commission has opened an investigation into transgender AEW wrestler Nyla Rose. The story dates back to December 20, 2023 where Nyla Rosa faced Alejandra Lion for the ROH tapings.

So far so good, but the problem is that a match with a transgender wrestler of another gender poses a problem, in fact such a practice is illegal. The Oklahoma Athletic Commission is responsible for legislating boxing, kickboxing, MMA and combat sports events on its territory and issuing fines if the rules are not followed.

Following the investigation, the committee decided to present a motion according to which AEW simply received a warning not to do this type of match again on its territory, otherwise the sanction will become punitive. The commission also decided to propose an update to its regulations to exclude professional wrestling from this rule for transgender confrontations, which should be done soon.

In the meantime, Nyla Rose saw the news and preferred to laugh at the situation by asking who this wrestler was and that she was going to find her. In an ironic tone, she adds that it is shameful to entertain people to make them happy:

We must not forget that this is not the first time that AEW has received a complaint from a sports commission. Last time out, the company paid a $10,000 fine to the Maryland commission for a match at AEW Full Gear 2019 that was deemed “too extreme.” You can read this story right here.
