The relationship between Tom Cruise and his daughter, Suri Cruise has never been out of the public spotlight. Suri, who is now a teenager, has never met her father for 11 years.
Suri is Tom Cruise’s daughter from his marriage to Katie Holmes in 2006. After six years of marriage, the artist couple finally divorced in 2012.
Suri Cruise appeared in Tom and Katie’s life on April 18, 2006. However, since their divorce, Tom has never seen his daughter again.
According to Daily Mailmovie star Top Gun: Maverick have not seen Suri since 2013, a year after he and Katie Holmes divorced.
Katie reportedly chose to end their marriage out of fear of raising her daughter as the daughter of a Scientologist, a cult that Tom believes in.
Relationship drifted away for 11 years
Tom Cruise is known to have embraced this belief when he married his first wife, Mimi Rogers, in 1987.
While still married to Tom, Katie Holmes also adhered to this teaching. However, his decision to leave the genre caused a rift between Holmes and Cruise.
Their cold relationship after their divorce helped make Tom and Suri even more distant for 11 years. A source said Tom had “no part in Suri’s life” after it was revealed the pair had not seen each other in years.
Tom Cruise also did not interfere in determining Suri’s choice of school. Even so, he remains responsible for paying for his daughter’s education, as stated in the divorce agreement with Katie Holmes.
In the divorce document, Tom Cruise stated that he agreed to pay US$400,000 or Rp.5.9 billion per year until Suri turns 18.
The document also stated that Tom agreed to pay all of Suri’s expenses, including medical, dental, insurance, education, college, and other extracurricular expenses.
“Tom has always maintained his responsibility regarding financial obligations to Katie and Suri,” said a source.
Suri Cruise’s teenage life
Even so, actor Mission Impossible never present in Suri’s daily life. The girl lives under the care of her mother.
“Raised by a single mother in New York has made Suri who she is today. Katie has always put Suri first and Suri loves her mother more than anything,” said the source.
“She was a smart girl, and she turned into a very smart mature woman. She had a very close group of loyal friends, and she knew exactly where she was coming from.”
Suri Cruise is a girl who has a love for fashion. He is said to have a clothing collection worth US $ 5 million or the equivalent of Rp. 74.3 billion. After turning 17 years old, Suri is reported to be pursuing education in the field of fashion.
“Suri is applying to schools all over the place. Katie really wants her to stay in New York so they can be close to each other. Katie is very proud of her but also very overprotective,” said a source.
Apart from working in the field fashion, Suri also began to follow in the footsteps of her parents by jumping into the world of entertainment. Last year, he sang a song called Blue Moon in the opening of the film Alone Together which was directed, written, and starred Katie Holmes.
Suri also participated in singing the song in the film The Mother entitled Rare Objects. For the rest, Holmes said Suri Cruise went through his activities as an ordinary teenager.
“Apart from that, he is a busy 16-year-old teenager living high school life,” Holmes said in an interview with Yahoo! Entertainment.
