The story of the child Shenouda began, when a Christian couple found the child at the door of a church, and he was a few days old. They decided to adopt him after consulting the concerned people in the church, as they did not have children. The family named the child, Shenouda Farouk Fawzy, and he lived between them for four years.
The controversy erupted in Shenouda’s story since the husband’s sister’s daughter filed a complaint with the Public Prosecution to challenge the child’s parentage to the foster family, and said that the child had been kidnapped, and after the spouses and the child underwent DNA analysis, and it was proven that he was not related to them, the Egyptian Public Prosecution decided to place him in an orphanage as Disqualified” and changed his name to Youssef, as his religion was changed.
