After the introduction of gay marriage in Switzerland, the first unions of which were celebrated on Friday, the next step could well be the French-style PACS or civil solidarity pact. A parliamentary initiative to this effect was tabled during the June session by the liberal-radical Andrea Caroni (AR). It is co-signed by senators from all the other political groups. The PACS appears as an intermediate level between marriage and cohabitation. And it is for all couples, both heterosexual and homosexual.
