After the death of a nurse inside the elevator, the hospital director was dismissed and a general decision

The governor of Dakahlia decided to dismiss the director of Sinbillawain General Hospital, against the background of the fall of the hospital’s elevator this morning, which resulted in the death of nurses and the injury of another nurse working in the hospital.

The governor commissioned the accountant, Metwally Abdel Aal, head of the Sinbillawain Center and City, and Dr. Saad Makki, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health, to move to the site of the accident, to follow up on the situation on the spot from inside the hospital and to take the necessary immediately.

It was also decided to refer all those responsible for the hospital elevator, its operation and maintenance, to the Public Prosecution for investigation and determination of criminal and disciplinary responsibility.

In the context, the Governor of Dakahlia issued an urgent decision to form a committee headed by the Director of the Mechanics Department in the Housing Directorate and with the membership of the Director General of Inspection and Follow-up in the governorate and specialized members from the Directorate of Health and Manpower, Civil Protection, and the Elevators Department of the governorate’s general office.

The committee passes all hospital elevators affiliated with the Directorate of Health, specialized medical centers, and health insurance within the governorate to examine them on the ground, and check their periodic maintenance work, their efficiency and the regularity of work on them through operational shifts, provided that the committee presents its report upon completion of its work within ten days. From its history to take the necessary action in the interest of everyone’s safety.

The director of Dakahlia Security had received a notification from the Director of Criminal Investigation, stating that a report had been received to the warden of the Sinbillawain Center that the elevator of Sinbillawain General Hospital had fallen, with 2 nurses inside.

The officers of the investigation unit of the Sinbillawain Center moved to the location of the report, and upon examination it was found that a nurse called “Amina al-Imam,” 32, residing in the al-Hawal neighborhood of Sinbillawain, was killed, and another sustained severe injuries and fractures, and first aid was provided to her.

Officials of the Dakahlia Health Directorate moved to the scene of the accident, to explain the reasons for the fall of the elevator.

The initial inspection indicated that there was a cut in the “lift wire”, which led to its fall, and an investigation is being opened into the incident, and the necessary report was issued on that and referred to the Public Prosecution, which initiated investigations.
