The exchange rates of the dollar at the beginning of trading today, Thursday, witnessed stability against the Egyptian pound, at a time when the European currency “euro” and “sterling” declined in most banks operating in Egypt.
And in the two largest Egyptian government banks in terms of the volume of assets and transactions, the National Bank of Egypt and Banque Misr, the dollar exchange rate witnessed stability, recording 18.23 pounds for purchase, 18.29 pounds for sale.
In private banks, the dollar exchange rate at the Commercial International Bank recorded 18.24 pounds for purchase, and 18.31 pounds for sale.
According to the Central Bank, the average market price in Egyptian pounds against the dollar is 18.21 pounds for purchase, and 18.32 pounds for sale.
In terms of the major currencies, the repercussions of the Russian-Ukrainian war are still casting a shadow on the international financial markets and banks, as the European currency fell today between 12-14 piasters buying and selling, after its rise yesterday between 17-19 piasters in government and private banks.
And the European currency, “the euro”, recorded a decline in the National Bank and Banque Misr, to 19.16 pounds for purchase, and 19.31 pounds for sale.
At the Commercial International Bank, the European currency fell, to 19.08 pounds for purchase, and 19.23 pounds for sale.
According to the Central Bank, the average market price in the Egyptian pound against the euro is 19.14 pounds for purchase, 19.27 pounds for sale.
The exchange rate of the sterling pound also declined today between 14-20 piasters in buying and selling, after its rise yesterday by 23-25 piasters in government and private banks.
In the National Bank and Banque Misr, the price of sterling today decreased to 22.49 pounds for purchase, and 22.67 pounds for sale.
In private banks, the sterling pound in the Commercial Bank increased, to 22.50 pounds for purchase and 22.69 pounds for sale.
According to the Central Bank, the average market price in Egyptian pounds against the British pound is 22.62 pounds for purchase and 22.77 pounds for sale.
On the level of Arab currencies, the exchange rates of the Saudi riyal at the National Bank and Banque Misr were stable, to record today 4.85 pounds for purchase and 4.87 pounds for sale.
Today, the Kuwaiti dinar exchange rates were 57.21 pounds for purchase and 59.66 pounds for sale.
The Emirati dirham witnessed stability, and today it recorded 4.96 pounds for purchase and 4.97 pounds for sale.
It is scheduled to meet the Monetary Policy Committee of the Central Bank to discuss interest rates on deposit and lending today (Thursday).
The Central Bank decided to raise interest rates by 2% in an extraordinary meeting today, Thursday.
