Last day ‘Kathal: The Core’ was released on the OTT platform Amazon Prime. Movie buffs are also celebrating the OTT release of Kathal, which won critical acclaim at the time of its theatrical release. Even the international media ‘The New York Times’ came out in praise of Kathal made by Jio Baby with Mammootty and Jyothika in the central roles. The New York Times article says that the movie, which featured one of the senior stars of South India as a ‘gay’ character, portrayed that character sensitively, and it is being discussed beyond Kerala. The film touched upon the challenges faced by a gay person in society
After the OTT release, even movie buffs from outside Kerala are praising the film and Mammootty and sharing notes. Bollywood director Hansal Mehta notes that Kathal is a motto that encourages a person to love himself.

The film hit the theaters on November 23. The film was also able to get good collections. Mammootty, Jyothika, RS. Panicker, Sudhi Kozhikode, Chinnu Chandini and Muthumani played the main characters in the film. Kathal’s script is written by Adarsh Sukumaran and Paulson Skaria.
