After warning strikes: railway workers start next round of KV negotiations

The KV negotiations of the railway workers go into the next round. So it will be exciting again. After several failed rounds of negotiations, Deutsche Bahn employees stopped work for 24 hours two weeks ago. The talks could drag on into the night.

AUSTRIA. On Monday at 3 p.m. the next round of KV negotiations between the railway workers will start. In advance, both employers and employees are optimistic. Nevertheless, the talks could drag on into the night. Because: The demand of the union is still well above the offer of the employer.

Strong criticism for warning strike

Two weeks ago, Deutsche Bahn employees went on strike for 24 hours. Both the employer and the employee side have criticized each other for this. A week later, ie last week, there was another initial talk between the negotiating parties. According to the employers, a lot was expected in the previous week. The union also went through the numbers again. But they continue to demand a much better offer.

Union demands wage increase of 12 percent

Most recently, the employee side had demanded an increase in actual and KV wages by 400 euros. That would be an average plus of twelve percent. Employers have offered an 8.4 percent adjustment. That would correspond to a wage increase of around 208 euros. But this offer will certainly not be enough, the union said. As long as Deutsche Bahn employees were paid €1,356 net for a full-time job, there would be a lot of catching up to do.

agreement unlikely

Although both sides are striving for a speedy agreement, the negotiations could continue late into the night. The union has already ruled out that the KV negotiations will be concluded on Monday. On Wednesday and Thursday the union members would have to vote.
