Smith’s slap in the face of comedian Chris Rock hurt the Oscars immensely. The crisis team should prevent incidents like this in the future.

After the slapping incident at the Academy Awards Last year, the organizers put together a “crisis team” for this year’s gala. “We’ve got a whole crisis team, something we’ve never had, and a lot of plans in place,” Bill Kramer, Oscar Academy executive director, told Time magazine.

“We went through many scenarios. So it’s our hope that we’re prepared for anything we can’t anticipate now, but that if it does happen, we prepare.”

At the gala last year had actors Will Smith slapped comedian Chris Rock onstage following he made a joke regarding Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett.

Smith later apologized. He was banned from film academy events, including Academy Awards, for ten years. This year’s Academy Awards ceremony is scheduled for March 12th.
