Again heavy protests in Iran

Thousands of people have once more taken to the streets in Iran to protest following the death of a young woman in police custody. Violent clashes broke out once more between demonstrators and security forces during the night.

Live ammunition shots at the protesters are also reported on videos that might not be verified. Meanwhile, Iranian soccer star Ali Karimi has also expressed his solidarity with the protests.

The Internet is severely restricted, mobile networks in particular are largely switched off. Instagram, one of the last free social networks, was also blocked.

The ex-professional Karimi received encouragement from many Iranians who took to the streets once morest the death of a young woman in police custody. “Don’t be afraid of strong women. The protests were triggered by the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini. She was arrested by the vice squad a week ago for violating the strict Islamic dress code. What exactly happened to Amini following her arrest is unclear, but she fell into a coma and died in a hospital on Friday.

Critics accuse the morality police of using violence. The police deny the allegations. Since then, thousands of people have been demonstrating across the country once morest the government’s repressive course.
