The Laval Rocket lost for the sixth time in seven games on Sunday in a 4-1 loss to the Hershey Bears that capped a grueling three-game streak in three days
Laval (3-8-3) has only three wins this season and is second to last in the Eastern Conference.
Anthony Richard, author of the victorious goal in overtime on Friday, scored the Rocket’s only goal at the expense of Zach Fucale, his ninth of the season. Tory Dello collected an assist on the play.
The Bears scored three unanswered goals to start the game, starting with Hendrix Lapierre at 6:48 of the first period. He took the puck behind the net, came forward looking for a free player to pass it to, but he finally chose to shoot between the pads, successfully. Lapierre then assisted on Bobby Nardella’s power play goal. Lapierre, playing his first season in the AHL after being selected in the first round of the 2020 auction by the Washington Capitals, reached the 10-point plateau in his 12th game.
Sam Anas, who had just been frustrated on a nice stop by Kevin Poulin, finally recovered later to make it 3-0 with 2 minutes to go in the second period.
Henrik Rybinski completed the scoring in an empty net with 2:36 to go. Poulin gave up three times on 26 shots in the loss, while Fucale, a former Montreal Canadiens second-round pick in 2013, made 25 saves. The latter has a goals against average of 2.02 and a save percentage of 91.7% this season.
Jean-François Houle’s squad will begin a four-game streak at Place Bell on Wednesday when they host the Abbotsford Canucks.
