Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, appointed Ahmed Abdel Rahman Al-Sheikh as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Stock Exchange for a year, so that “Sheikh” moved from his current position as Vice President of the Financial Supervisory Authority to work to manage the oldest money market in the Middle East, because of his long experience and expertise. Diversified in the field of markets and financial activities for more than 30 years.
Ahmed Abdel Rahman began his professional career in 1993 by working in the Egyptian Stock Exchange, after which he was assigned to work at Misr Clearing Company during the years 1996/1997, and he held the position of supervisor of the central administration for monitoring trading markets in the General Authority for Financial Supervision during the period from 2005-2011, after which he was appointed first assistant to the president The Board of Directors of the Stock Exchange, and supervised the membership sector in 2014, then supervised the trading control sector in 2018.
The “Sheikh” also chaired the Committee for Developing Business Rules in the Federation of Arab Capital Markets, and assumed the membership of the Board of Directors of the Misr Company for Central Clearing, Depository and Registry, and the membership of the Board of Directors of the Misr Information Publishing Company, and he held the position of Vice Chairman of its Board of Directors, and the membership of the Investment Committee and its Audit Committee, and the membership of the Board of Directors. The management of the Egyptian Commodity Exchange and a member of its membership committee. He also served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Investor Protection Fund, and a member of the Management Committee of the Settlement Guarantee Fund. The “Sheikh” was hired as an expert in the economic courts according to Minister of Justice Resolution No. 7464 of 2009.
The position of Chairman of the Stock Exchange is not new to Ahmed Abdel Rahman, as he was previously assigned to run the Egyptian Stock Exchange’s business during the month of August 2022, prior to his assignment to work as Vice-Chairman of the Financial Supervisory Authority.
Ahmed Abdel Rahman obtained a Bachelor of Commerce from Ain Shams University, Accounting Division in 1992, and obtained a Diploma in Investment and Finance from Ain Shams University in 1998. He also obtained a Diploma in Portfolio Management from the American University in Cairo the following year, then a Diploma in Capital Markets from The Arab Academy, then he obtained a master’s degree in business administration, specializing in capital markets, in 2003.
