AI, training, diversification: at Orange Business, the cultural revolution continues

Yet another new role for Aliette Mousnier-Lompré! The former semi-professional PSG football player, who became general director of Orange Business in 2022 at just forty years old, will become a “super-HRD”. Orange’s B to B subsidiary, which sells connectivity, cloud and cybersecurity to businesses for 8 billion euros in annual turnover, officially launched this week a vast process to train 5,000 employees, i.e. 16% of its workforce. The goal is to pivot them towards new professions, particularly those in AI.

This requalification, which is accompanied by a voluntary departure plan affecting 643 positions, is one of the many pharaonic projects undertaken by Orange Business to return to growth in profitability by 2025, as promised to the markets. Formerly the group’s cash cow, the subsidiary is affected by the decline of its traditional high-margin activities, notably fixed telephony in businesses, in the era of Teams. Its gross operating profit (Ebitdaal) has been falling since 2017, according to Bank of America. It fell further by 16% in the first half, for stable sales (+0.8%).
