This Tuesday at 8:00 in the morning, the final arguments began in the trial against Aida Victoria Merlano and the dentist Javier Guillermo Cely for their alleged participation in the escape of the former congresswoman colombian Aida Merlano.
After the virtual hearing began, the judge handling the case read the meaning of conviction against is of the fugitive from justice, since it was shown that she did know about the escape plan she made.

For his part, the dentist Cely was acquittedsince it was not fully evidenced that he was involved in the escape on October 1, 2019, when the former congresswoman jumped out of a window.

In fact, the condemned young woman admitted that although she saw the red rope with which his mother jumped from the building, he did not know that he would use it for this purpose.

In front of the acquitted dentist, he had said that he met Aida Merlano Rebolledo after he requested an appointment with him to have a smile design. “I have been a scapegoat, I am dead in life, they damaged my family, my profession, I am in psychiatric treatment. The crimes for which the authorities accused Aida Victoria Merlano and Javier Guillermo Cely were escape favoring and use of minors to commit crimes.
For the moment, it has not transpired penalty amount that the sentenced person will pay, since only the meaning of the ruling was known. Likewise, it is not known if the judge will issue an arrest warrant. The case may be appealed before the Superior Court of Bogotá.
