The Saudi authorities announced the exemption of the mayor of Duba, Abdullah bin Abdul Rahim Al-Ghabban, from his post, due to a phrase quoted from a popular proverb that was placed on a banner at the “Dubaa Wave and Zuhr” festival held on the Corniche of Duba Governorate in the Tabuk region, which sparked resentment among the citizens, according to what was published by the newspaper. In response to the controversy raised, the municipality of Duba issued a statement on its official page on Twitter, saying: “A reference to what was circulated by some tweeters about the presence of some paintings bearing unpalatable phrases within one of the corners of the Duba Festival of Waves and Flowers, dedicated to ancient folk proverbs within 250 For example, from different regions of the Kingdom, the municipality would like to confirm that the aforementioned proverbs have been removed, thanking everyone for their concern and communication.
