Al-Khelaïfi, Campos, Neymar … Rothen’s advice to PSG

Under fire from critics since their elimination in the knockout stages of the Champions League against Bayern Munich (0-1, 0-2), Paris Saint-Germain could experience a turbulent end to the season.

Jérôme Rothen gave his opinion on the current situation of PSG. “I trust the management team, most of them have just arrived in June. It’s still brand new (…) I assume that the awareness is obvious today. Already, there are a lot of criticisms and when there are criticisms piling up – and it’s often the same ones piling up year after year, week after week – they can’t turn a deaf ear. and act as if there were no such criticisms”dropped the consultant of RMC.

A necessary self-criticism

Aware of the delicate situation of Christophe Galtier, Rothen wanted to recall that PSG had changed course in its strategy last season before asking the supporters for patience. “We will still have to get back to work, to question ourselves. I remain convinced that the men who are at the head of the sportsman and the president of the club, Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, are capable of making their own criticism. To tell ourselves that there are still shortcomings, that things are not going fast enough in what we want to put in place, in what we want to develop and that we will do so in the coming weeks. You have to do it correctly though, maybe press where it hurts”he continued.

Neymar in the sights

According to the consultant of RMC, management must learn from their mistakes and build a real team around Kylian Mbappé. Without naming him, Neymar is clearly targeted by his remarks. “Awareness starts with the mistakes you may have made over the last few months, with this team, with the extension of certain players, with the fact of having confidence in stars who are still under contract but whose you have to separate. The strong choices, they must be sportingly there at first, before talking about recruitment”he concluded.
