Amman – Petra – Under the auspices of Prime Minister Dr. Abdullah Ensour, a conference entitled “Towards a Comprehensive Strategy to Combat Extremism… Opportunities and Challenges for National Accord” will be inaugurated at the Landmark Hotel in Amman today, which will be organized by the Jerusalem Center for Political Studies.
The director of the Jerusalem Center for Political Studies, Oraib Al-Rantawi, said that this conference aims to work to build a national consensus on the concept of extremism, its forms and manifestations, and ways to confront and fight it.
He added that this national consensus is a priority as an issue of first national priority, noting that extremism leading to terrorism is a threat to Jordan’s security and stability.
The sessions of the three-day conference, in which a large number of official, party and academic figures and experts participate, will discuss a number of axes related to combating terrorism, including political reform and democratization as a tool to fight the party, renewing religious discourse, security policies, community violence, the rule of law, and the role of movements.
