Al-Zahrani factory is out of service and production is low

“Electricité du Liban” stated in a statement, “It has forcibly placed the Al-Zahrani plant out of service for a period of five days, to conduct a partial inspection (Minor Inspection) by the manufacturer “Siemens” on the only group put into service and whose working hours exceeded //41,000 // Equal working hour (EOH), in order to extend its working period as much as possible up to //2,000// equivalent working hours if the manufacturer agreed to that, due to the inability to perform general maintenance on the two gas groups in the Al-Zahrani plant, due to the unavailability of Enough hard currencies (Fresh Dollars) to be made during the past two years, especially in light of the difficult economic, financial and monetary conditions that the country is going through, knowing that the working hours of the first group have exceeded //41,000// hours since the end of the year 2021. The remaining thermal productivity on the network is currently only from Deir Ammar plant, which operates on one gas group and half a steam group only, as well as from Tyre factory working on one group only, that is, with a total thermal production capacity of about /230// megawatts, in addition to water production capacity Which are produced from both the Qadisha and Al Bared plants, which amount to about //10// megawatts, and therefore the total of this low production capacity has negatively affected the stability and stability of the electrical network, and leads to frequent blackouts, and is only enough to feed the facilities The basic vitality in the country (airport, port, water pumps, sewage, basic facilities in the country.)”.

EDL once again indicated that the electric power that is generated from its production plants depends only on the quantities of fuels that are supplied to it by the Ministry of Energy and Water – the General Directorate of Oil, in accordance with the exchange agreement concluded between the two sides of the Republic. Iraq and the Lebanese Republic, as the shipment that is imported monthly does not exceed its tonnage //33,000// ± 10 metric tons as a maximum, which resulted in great difficulty in maintaining the sustainability of energy production, pending the shipment of the following month, especially And that this low quantity in light of the operation of the Al-Zahrani and Deir Ammar plants at half their production capacity, i.e. one gas group in both plants, is sufficient to run them for a maximum period of 18 days and not 30 days (ie for a month), with reference to that the Electricité du Liban has informed all concerned authorities of this matter according to several official correspondences,

Accordingly, the Electricité du Liban reiterates that it exerts its best efforts and takes all possible precautionary measures with its available capabilities, in light of these circumstances beyond its control and responsibility, in order to maintain a minimum level of stability and stability in the supply of electric current as much as possible.
