Radio Mais-Huíla journalist Albino Capitango died this Friday in Windhoek, Namibia, due to illness.
The 34-year-old journalist had been experiencing health problems for some time, having been given medical leave three weeks ago and went to seek medical help in the Namibian capital, but could not resist.
Speaking to ANGOP, the director of the Station in Huíla, Gisela Silva, regretted the incident, highlighting that it was a “hard blow” to the team, given the dedication and professionalism that were characteristic of it.
“We are helpless, he was one of the most available professionals, even when he was sick, he always wanted to give himself to work, if it weren’t for our persistence in keeping him at home, so that he could recover”, he stated.
On social media, colleagues express sadness and praise the man’s achievements. Adriano Gomes, a colleague on the panel, writes on his page that it was a “premature departure that impoverishes Huilano journalism”.
Lúcio Domingos, with whom he shared a program “Jindungo”, on Saturdays, highlighted his colleague’s versatility, “which leaves journalism and Huíla poorer”.
Albino Capitango Sakafundi was born in the village of Malipi, just a few kilometers from the municipal headquarters of Quipungo, a location that he always made a point of remembering in his publications.
