The ad hoc attorney for the Lava Jato case, Silvana Carrión, affirmed that former President Alejandro Toledo would be arriving in Peru in the next few hours according to the information received from the North American country.
“I understand that Mr. Toledo would arrive in the next few hours, no more than 2 days. It is the information that has been indicated to us, ”confirmed the attorney.
He added that the transfer of the former president will be carried out on a commercial flight and that the US Marshals will be in charge of ensuring security during the transfer.
“He comes on a commercial flight and due to the immediacy and security of the transfers, it would finally be the American authorities who would transfer them to our country. The US Marshals,” he stated.
Thus, Toledo Manrique would be arriving at the Jorge Chávez International Airport this Sunday morning and will later be evaluated to verify his state of health and identified by the National Police.
At another time, Prosecutor Carrión pointed out that it is possible this year to go to the oral trial stage in the Lava Jato case to continue with the rapid progress in hearings.
“If we continue the pace that we have started in these hearings, it is likely that, in two or three months, if not sooner, we will be able to conclude the accusation control stage and then move on to the next stage, which is the oral trial,” declared the attorney.
In this regard, he affirmed that Judge Concepción Carhuancho has already set the dates for the following hearings and that they will work with a quick schedule.

Likewise, it ruled that, if Alejandro Toledo was in Peru on the date of said hearings, it would be possible to hold them in person with the former president present in accordance with the provisions of the court.

He specified that both Toledo Manrique and the rest of those investigated may be represented by their defense during the hearings of this stage since technical procedural issues are disputed.
