Alex Baena decided to file a complaint against Valverde with the Spanish police on charges of assaulting him, when the Villarreal player made his way to the team bus, after his match against Real Madrid (3-2) at the “Santiago Bernabeu” stadium, in the Spanish League “La Liga”.

In an official statement posted on his account on the social networking site “Twitter”, Baena denied the accusations attributed to him about what he said to Valverde, whether in the cup or league match, condemning the threatening and violent messages he received.

The Villarreal player said in his statement: “Last Saturday, I was attacked by a professional colleague after a Real Madrid match. After the incident, some statements allegedly made by his accompanying delegation appeared, in which it was said that I wished for the pain of a member of his family, but no. There is evidence published to prove the facts attributed to me.”

And he continued, according to Russia Today: “A calamity was used to justify the aggression, and there are lies that hurt more than strikes. The damage to my family is irreparable and unjustified: threats, insults, and even private messages wishing death to my family.”

And the 21-year-old Villarreal player completed his statement, saying: “Yesterday I reported the case to the police, let justice do its work, now my only goal is to focus on my career and help my team achieve its goals.”

For her part, Mina Bonino, Valverde’s wife, said in statements reported by the Spanish newspaper “Mundo Deportivo”: “After everything we’ve been through, I feel pain because I had to read a statement claiming that we are taking advantage of the disaster.”

She added, “There is a God who sees everything and knows the truth, and we are calm, but they open a wound that has not yet healed, and I cannot obtain psychological peace until the child is born.”

She explained, “There are limits that should not be crossed. Not everything is permitted in football, and not everything is permitted in life.”

“There are limits, and the limit is the direct pain that anyone can cause. I am not a spokeswoman for anyone,” she added.

Mina Bonino concluded her remarks: “I convey my pain, and if there is someone who does not want to talk today, it is because he does not want to re-experience what happened again, and on the contrary, he wants to end this matter as soon as possible.”

While Federico Valverde refused to publish any statement regarding the “incident of his assault” on the Villarreal player.
