California-based SINGER, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, producer and Skittles candy enthusiast, Alex Siegel, has revealed his latest single, Honey.
This song captures the nostalgic feel of classic AM radio hits from the early 1970s, at the same time that Siegel is also happy about his home life with his new fiancé through the lyrics in the song, namely: “Sweet like honey/ Anytime you put it on me / Ain’t it funny/ That we don’t have to be anybody.”
With a Yamaha acoustic guitar inherited from his father, the soft twang of a Rhodes piano, and a smooth rhythm, the Los Angeles-based artist poured his heart into creating this song.
Recorded directly onto cassette tape in his home, with his dog Skittles by his side, Siegel made sure the song captured a sense of honesty in the moment, to reflect the intimate lyrics.

In his own words, Siegel shared his thoughts on this song, “I sang this song, played and recorded all the instruments at home with my Tascam 388 tape machine. Then this song went through a mixing process done by Jake Aron, and on this song my partner, Julia also contributed several pieces of lyrics.”
“For me, it’s about letting go of something and finally being ourselves, and not worrying about how other people see us,” he continued.
Wanting to build on the success of his previous album Courage which he released in 2022, which successfully showcased his vocals and also wrote his well-crafted, poetic lyrics, Siegel is now increasingly showing his self-confidence which is strengthened by his musicality.
Despite his background as a jazz guitarist and former session player for legendary Malian guitarist Vieux Farka Toure, Alex Siegel’s dedication to music is unwavering, as he ensures every melody on his latest songs reaches its full potential.
