When Alexander Albon underwent surgery, Williams F1 asked rookie Nick de Vries to replace him. De Vries finished ninth, which will lead to a seat in AlphaTauri F1 for 2023.

Prior to the F1 Italian GP, ​​Alexander Albon prepared a special helmet. Honoring nine-time MotoGP champion Valentino Rossi with a bright orange helmet with a picture of his face on top of the dome, similar to the design Rossi used at Mugello in 2008. and planned to announce it before the final.
