Williams F1’s Alexander Albon has released a phantom special helmet that was planned to be worn at the 2022 F1 Italian GP.
For Alexander Albon, the 2022 F1 Italian Grand Prix will be a weekend to remember forever. After finishing work as usual on Friday, Albon woke up early Saturday morning with severe pain in his abdomen and was eventually diagnosed with an appendix.
When Alexander Albon underwent surgery, Williams F1 asked rookie Nick de Vries to replace him. De Vries finished ninth, which will lead to a seat in AlphaTauri F1 for 2023.
Prior to the F1 Italian GP, Alexander Albon prepared a special helmet. Honoring nine-time MotoGP champion Valentino Rossi with a bright orange helmet with a picture of his face on top of the dome, similar to the design Rossi used at Mugello in 2008. and planned to announce it before the final.
In the end, Alexander Albon’s F1 Italian Grand Prix helmet never saw the light of day, but the 26-year-old Albon posted an image of it on social media as a small Christmas present for his fans.
Alexander Albon is a big fan of Valentino Rossi and raced for number 46 in karting, but in F1 he chose half that number, number 23.
