Algerian striker Isaac Belfadil has been released after the case against him for violence against his 15-year-old sister was dropped, the Versailles prosecutor’s office told AFP.

Investigators heard the 31-year-old player at the Elancourt police station in the suburbs of the French capital, Paris, after a dispute with his sister, who showed signs of suffocation without requiring treatment, according to a police source earlier yesterday.

“They grabbed each other’s neck during a fight,” a source familiar with the file told AFP.

The player later wrote on his Instagram account, “My little sister and I are fine.”

Belfadil carries the colors of the Qatari club Al-Gharafa and has defended the colors of the Algerian national football team 17 times since 2013, after representing the age teams of France.

He played in several European championships, carrying the colors of French Lyon, Parma, Inter and the Italians, Belgian Standard Liege, Werder Bremen, Hoffenheim and Hertha Berlin in Germany, in addition to the Emirati Bani Yas.
